Assassin's Creed Unveils Unexpected Attack on Titan Collaboration for Thanksgiving

In a bizarre crossover event that breaks conventional forecasts, the game developer has announced an digital partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Adventure Uncovered

According to the official statement, "A mysterious confrontation leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where hints of banned practices and monstrous changes resonate through the shadows." The plot introduces a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who charges the pair with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a clandestine group.

The mission focuses on "peculiar trials and a terrifying enemy" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Familiar Places and Transformations

The trailer features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser concludes with a dramatic moment showing a character, likely the hostage, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Extra Material

Players who finish the adventure will acquire an unique katana in addition to numerous artifacts concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:

  • Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
  • Mikasa attire for Naoe
  • Unique weapons
  • Survey Corps mount

Latest Free Story Content

This update also adds the game's third no-cost story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive techniques: Naoe debuts a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

Previous Japanese Animation Collaborations

This marks scarcely the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime franchises. The series earlier included a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally featured a quest that obviously nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
